A very well made and faithful George I style red lacquer bureau bookcase with raised gilt chinoiseries in gilt and pen work of oriental figures and whimsical ornithological and foliat details, with faithful early 18th century metal work and old locks. The mirrored doors with old perished plates and opening to a fitted interior with central cupboard, pigeon holes, slides and drawers, above a fall front decorated on the interior with cranes, pigeon holes and drawers.
