Very Fine & Rare Early 20th Century Specimen Marble & Semi-Precious Stone Gilt Bronze Centre Table. The rarity of the ancient stones set within this fabulous table cannot be overstated, they include Lapis Lazuli, Rosso Antico, rare Egyptian Granitos, Imperial Egyptian Porphyry, Grecian Porphyry, Lumicella Fossil Marble, Alabastro Fiorito, rare Onyx, Siena Marble & Portoro Marble amongst many others. They have been designed & set in the most incredible detail, displaying each specimen to its absolute best. The fabulous stone examples held within this masterpiece of design can be found in the stunning collection of Roman Lawyer & the most respected collector of ancient decorative stones used by the Romans, Avvocato Faustino Corsi ( 1771-1846 ), who no doubt would have been enjoyed such a display. The ancient geological specimens held within the upper section surround a beautifully figured specimen of Breche Violette, this central piece is matched again within the lower plateau. The top of each monopedic leg has a delightfully cast Rams’ head to further enhance the Roman feel. The form of this wonderful table highlights the true beauty of Greco Roman design to its fullest. It is in excellent condition for its age.
