An exceptional pair of ormolu cassolettes, the circular lids with berry finials, located within agate burnished bowls supported on curved legs, and bacchanalian masks tapering to rams feet on concave sided plinths.

Throughout the quality of the bronze work can only be that of a master bronzier, which leads to conclude Pierre Gouthière. A similar pair of atheniennes pots pourris with rams heads, share the style and quality of the present pair are housed in the Louvre (inv OA5179)
