An Oceanic Gata War Club, Fiji, 19th century

Price on Request

A fine 19th century Gata war club from Fiji. The head left unfinished to dramatic effect, the handle with carved Tava Tava detail. This is another well-sized and finely finished oceanic Fijian weapon. The projection that makes the Gata and the Sali so distinctive originates by repute from the open jaws of the Gata snake or Pacific Boa.
