England, c. 1740

A fine mid 18th century mahogany folding envelope / supper table, the triangular top veneered in fine mahogany inlaid with brass stringing. The lower top, opening to a fitted writing surface with leather top and sunken well. A discrete side drawer opening with a brass nob, the whole supported on cabriole legs terminating in Pad feet.

This fine multi purpose 'universal' table stands as testament to the ingenuity of Georgians, the table cleverly adapts to three purposes, a piece of static side furniture, a small table for dining and a writing table, fully fitted with a fine leather writing surface.
