What our clients say
Many thanks for enhancing our lives!
Well Nicholas, the Elm Dresser finally arrived and is already in daily use. It is utterly magnificent and full of charming character. It has been well worth the wait. I have a wonderful photo of the dresser in situ. I have attached it to this message, All the very best and many thanks for enhancing our lives!
I have no hesitation whatever in recommending Mr. Wells and his highly responsive staff to anyone who is interested in purchasing fine antiques, art and vintage pieces.
I have now purchased ('on line') two wonderful items from Nicholas Wells Antiques--a unique vintage coffee table and a beautiful antique Georgian side table. Each of them were precisely as represented in the photographs and as described on the firm's website. They arrived (after their trans-Atlantic voyages) carefully packed (and, importantly, easy to unpack!) and in good order. It was a pleasure to deal with Mr. Wells - he was most helpful and accommodating. As anyone who has visited the website can clearly see, Mr. Wells certainly has an eye. I have no hesitation whatever in recommending Mr. Wells and his highly responsive staff to anyone who is interested in purchasing fine antiques, art and vintage pieces.
Excellent communication, accurate description of antiques and excellent packaging of fragile antiques.
Excellent communication, accurate description of antiques and excellent packaging of fragile antiques. I would highly recommend Nicholas Wells Antiques.
No photo quite conveyed the exquisite beauty and detail this piece manifests—it is absolutely stunning!!!
Hello, Nick, The faun has been unpacked. No photo quite conveyed the exquisite beauty and detail this piece manifests—it is absolutely stunning!!! The patina is much more green than your photos showed, and for that I’m elated. And the detail of all the parts I initially asked about is GRAND! I may recline on my settee all day and stare at him—from every perspective he is in such fluid movement and is delectably gorgeous—I couldn’t be happier! A dream come true, really, and I am so grateful. Thank you!
Dear Nick, The commode looks gorgeous, thank you for making the purchase, repair and delivery so seamless. I’m thrilled with the piece! Thank you for the kind Aleph Contemporary invitation, I will be sure to take a look. I’ll be checking your website whenever I’m looking for any furniture or accessories as I enjoy tweaking things. I’ll be recommending you to my friends too. Have a lovely weekend. As for me, I’ll be busy admiring my new commode!
Dear Nicholas, we are very pleased to confirm the purchase of the pointer oil on canvas. He is going to look wonderful in his new home.
It’s fabulous. Everything I’ve ever wanted. Thank you for your help in my acquisition! All the best!
Friendly communicative expert seller, with wonderful top quality items for sale.
I am an interior designer in Portland, Oregon, USA, and I had been looking for the perfect chest for a client\'s entry for several years. After seeing a charming 18th century French commode at Nicholas Wells Antiques from a newsletter he emailed me, I emailed a photo of the chest to my clients. The clients LOVED it, but were a bit hesitant to order an antique from England. Nicholas Wells made the cartoning and shipping absolutely painless for my clients, and the beautiful commode is now happily ensconced in their entry. I can\'t say enough good things about how easy it was to work with Nicholas, and how beautiful the chest looks in their home. They are thrilled, and so am I.
I recently purchased a commode which I saw on the website of Nicholas Wells antiques which is http://www.nicholaswells.com/ The photography of the commode was excellent and was a true likeness of the piece which Nicholas brought to our house the day following my contact with him and which I purchased. Nicholas kindly helped us position the commode in its new home. From my first sighting of the commode to completion of the transaction I complement Nicholas in providing a highly professional, efficient and friendly service.
I really enjoyed working with Nick when I recently acquired two pieces from his collection. His photography is excellent and the website was very easy to navigate and full of interesting items. Whilst looking through his website, I found a wonderful George III secretaire bookcase which he took me to see at Cross Hall Manor and a very chic pair of Louis XVI mahogany drum cabinets with marble tops which he kindly agreed to bring over and try in my house. Once in place, I agreed that they were perfect. Nick recommended a very good restorer to make some alterations and helped over see the work. I am looking forward to receiving the pieces in my London house and I know they will look wonderful when delivered. I have purchased from many other London art and antique dealers and the service Nick has provided is five star. A charming and knowledgeable gentleman with a very good collection and a great eye. I would recommend Nick Wells to anyone looking for high quality antique furniture and objects.
I recently purchased a basalt Mercury bust. It arrived today. I am most happy; the object met my expectations based on the precise description. I will be checking the web-site for newly added objects.
We had not attended the Olympia Fair in quite some time, and were so happy to connect with Nicholas this year. He had a wonderful selection of unique pieces, and we (and thankfully our clients) fell in love with a pair of Victorian iron mirrors. We have never seen anything like them – they will be a showstopper when installed in their home. We look forward to seeing what he has to offer in the future!
Snelle en correcte afwikkeling van mijn aankoop.
Smooth transaction, great follow-thru, fair pricing and excellent packaging / delivery!
I have recently bought a small two tier laquered table from Nicholas Wells. My experience was entiirely satisfactory: Nick accurately described the item and had it repolished to my requirements within the timeframe I had asked for. The table was then shipped to Rome where it landed safely. Overall, dealing with Nick was a much pleasant experience, even if compared to the many reputable dealers (and auction houses) I have been doing business with, as a longtime collector. He has much knowledge and impeccable taste for both collection and decoration items as well as a gracious and professional approach. I hope to deal with him again!
Great dealer and item arrived as described! Pleasure doing business with you.
An emporium with a diverse range of antique furniture & collectibles
We acquired a Georgian drum table from Nicholas Wells Antiques website and were afforded a most professional and comprehensive service by Nicholas from the point of sale right through to the delivery of the item.
I first got in touch with Mr Wells after finding his extraordinary antiques shop online, and I must say it has been a wonderful experience. He offers a wide variety of pieces at a wide range of prices, from furniture to collectables, all of them of an extraordinary quality. In my case, I was searching for Asian silver and I was delighted to be offered a Straits Chinese scalloped box (a picture of which can be found attached to this review). From the very beginning, Nick proved to be cordial, helpful and upstanding, and also extremely thoughtful all along the process of shipment and delivery. I'm looking forward to travelling to London to visit his antiques shop and meet him in person. A mandatory visit for every antiques lover!
A great and diverse collection of fine antiques, furniture and decorative objects presented smartly in wonderful home setting. The proprietor, Nicholas, is welcoming, knowledgable and extremely helpful. Will definitely be visiting again when I am next in London.
Trust still exists, and this is nice
I have never met Nicholas Wells, nor actually visited his antiques shop. Nevertheless, I think that you should know this about this upstanding, honest, and trust worth individual. I cam across Nicholas Wells Antiques, online, looking for Meiji period items. I found a beautiful silver Goshawk and Wood piece. I am not a novitiate when it comes to antiques and especially Japanese pieces. Mr. Wells and my interactions occurred over the internet, and were friendly, cordial, and , actually, delightful. He was accommodating, knowledgeable, and easy to work with. The purchase of this piece went extremely well, and was made even more delightful is when he sent the piece to the restorer for some touch up work to the silver. The shipping went without incident and the large, piece was received in excellent condition, and was as described. I look forward to meeting Mr. Wells when I cross the pond, but anyone who has the time or inclination, might want to view his shop while in London.
