An exceptional and very fine Napoleon III secretaire veneered throughout in rich marquetry, the upper section with mirrored back and shelves and cupboards, its outline reminiscent of Swedish Precht Mirrors. The console with a single serpentine drawer in the front, an original tooled blue velvet slide and a marquetry top that retracts into the piece. The whole raised on cabriole legs and throughout mounted in fine gilt bronze work. The lock signed โ€˜Jean a Rennesโ€™. France, circa 1870
