A large 17th century Japanese black and gold lacquer trunk, finished in polished black lacquer with gilt details to the domed hinged lid. The corners and edges with engraved brass protective mounts. Two long drop handles at either end, the cabinet opens to a polychrome flame wallpaper interior.
