Bohemia, a historic region in Central Europe, emerged as a leading centre of decorative arts in the 19th century, celebrated especially for its extraordinary glassmaking traditions. Renowned for its vibrant colours, gilt embellishments, and masterful copper wheel engravings—often depicting intricate hunting scenes—Bohemian glass was produced to the highest standard and crafted into vases, bottles, chandeliers, and fine jewellery.

 Many pieces featured richly coloured cased glass in ruby, yellow, blue, or green, finished with hand-painted details and luxurious gold accents.

Alongside its famed glass, Bohemia also produced distinctive ceramics: vividly coloured, finely patterned, and widely used in domestic and ecclesiastical settings.
