A George III mahogany cross-banded architectural month-going longcase regulator

The case on small bracket feet supporting the plinth centred by a hollow-cornered panel, the trunk door with well carved fluted detached columns flanking the slender arched trunk door, similar bronze-capped detached columns flanking the forward sliding hood surmounted by a scroll cresting with well carved wood floral terminals, the breakarch silvered regulator dial signed WRIGHT, the chapter rings finely engraved and with delicated pierced blued steel hour and minute hands and counterpoised seconds hand, the movement with five front-pinned pillars, Graham-type deadbeat escapement, anti-friction roller arm to the crutch, the steel rod pendulum with Wright's patent compensated bob comprising a central brass covered lead bob with bimetallic strips above and below compensating for temperature error, high count wheel train with maintaining power, original well made oval brass-cased weight and brass pulley with six crossings

Provenance: 

According to the note pasted to the inside of the trunk door, this clock was originally sold in September 1795 by Miss Wright, Thomas Wright's daughter to a C. Hurst for 20 guineas.
