André Romain Guilmet was a French clockmaker who was active in Paris during the end of the 19th century. Guilmet was renowned for his craftsmanship and mechanical knowledge, and his workshop was located at 103 Rue du Faubourg-Saint Martin in Paris. In 1861, he founded Guilmet and Cie, his own clock-making company. This company was active until 1910, and was known for its high-quality clocks.

Guilmet’s clocks were highly sought after by French royalty, as well as wealthy aristocrats from all around Europe. His designs were inspired by engineering and he had a unique style that set him apart from other clockmakers of the time. He had a passion for innovation and was always looking for ways to improve his craft. His clocks and watches incorporated complicated mechanisms and intricate detailing.

Guilmet’s legacy lives on today in the form of his clocks and watches, which can be found in museums and private collections around the world. He has been recognised as one of the most influential clockmakers of the 19th century, and his company, Guilmet and Cie, is still remembered as a maker of fine timepieces. His innovative designs and craftsmanship will continue to be admired for centuries to come.
