The Eros di Centocelle is a celebrated Roman marble sculpture, now in the Capitoline Museums in Rome. Dating from the late Hellenistic or early Imperial period, it is a finely worked copy of a Greek original attributed to Praxiteles. The figure depicts the youthful god Eros in a moment of graceful repose, leaning with relaxed elegance, his posture embodying both sensuality and divine beauty. The statue takes its name from the Centocelle district of Rome, where it was discovered in the 18th century, and has since been admired as one of the most exquisite examples of Roman interpretations of Greek art.
