These bronze classical vases refer to the original, so called Medici Vase, a famous ancient Roman marble vase. These vases were popular souvenirs for wealthy travelers during the Grand Tour period in the 18th and 19th centuries. Both vases are shown with handles to form a pair, however one of the vases is a version of the Borghese Vase – another ancient Roman classical vase.
