Holland and Sons was one of Britain’s most prominent cabinetmaking and upholstery firms during the 19th and early 20th centuries, celebrated for its exceptional craftsmanship and elegant designs. Founded in 1803 by William Holland , a relative of the architect Henry Holland , the firm gained renown for its high-quality furniture and extensive royal and aristocratic commissions.

The company became a favourite of Queen Victoria, providing furnishings for Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle, and Balmoral. Holland and Sons specialised in a range of styles, from Regency to Victorian and later Edwardian designs, often incorporating luxurious materials like exotic woods, intricate marquetry, and gilt-bronze mounts.

Holland and Sons also participated in major international exhibitions, including the Great Exhibition of 1851, where their work received acclaim. Known for blending innovation with traditional craftsmanship, the firm contributed significantly to British design heritage. Today, their furniture is highly prized by collectors and connoisseurs of antique design.
