This resplendent late 19th-century mantel clock from Nicholas Wells Antiques melds white marble elegance with the luster of ormolu. A gilt bronze case, adorned with Roman numerals, cradles a white enamel dial, offset by the poise of a patinated bronze lady lost in her reading—a timeless allegory. The base is accentuated with gilt beading and foliage inlays, resting on adjustable feet for precision placement. A movement by the esteemed Japy Freres animates its historical chime, marking time with a strike every half hour and hour.
