These wall lights are a true rarity, and their importance cannot be overstated. They are without question the finest appliques one will ever see. The pair features three opulently decorated branches, each with a central bow, and are of considerable size with a height of 22.5 inches, a width of 16 inches, and a depth of 11 inches. The stylistic details of the wall lights are shared with a similar pair that was supplied to the Prince de Condé at Palais Bourbon in 1779, which were ‘à tête de belier’ two-arm candelabra. Additionally, two pairs of Ram’s head ‘à tête de belier’ candelabra were delivered in 1775 to the Palace of Versailles, one for the apartment de la Comtesse de Provence and the other for the apartment de la Comtesse d’Artois.
