20th Century France, Circa 1950
Height: 42 cms (16.5 ins) Width: 23 cms (9 ins) Depth: 11 cms (4.3 ins)
The model of appliques with French horns was created for Louis XVI. The origin of this model can be attributed to Jean-Jacques Bachelier, whose ornamental drawing is preserved at the National Institute of Art History, Paris at 2, Rue Vivienne, and from the collection Jacques Doucet presents a three-pointed wall lamp in Hunting horns enriched with oak leaves and a knot of trimming tape.
This model is after the appliques preserved in the Chateau Of Versailles, delivered by Galle in 1809 for the Salon du Petit Trianon.
