England, Early 19th century

An exceptional and very rare early 19th-century lathe turned treen tea caddy in the form of a barrel. The surface retaining its vivid green staining and fine patina, the lid opening to theinterior retaining remains of the original foil lining.

This tea caddy is a variation on the more common apple, pear and melon caddies, the construction is identical.
