A fine 18th century north Italian carved ivory box of exceptional quality and condition. Of rectangular outline with tapered sides and panels of gothic arches in various northern styles below a band of unique carved gargoyles, the top opening to a blue lined interior, the top with curved panels of foliate carved ivory around a black and ivory central panel surrounded by individual carved ivory flowers and centred by a raised basket of flowers carved with exceptional attention to detail.
