Rare Silver-Plate Lemon Squeezer
Hukin & Heath, Birmingham, c. 1880
Possibly Designed by Dr Christopher Dresser

A highly unusual and beautifully conceived silver-plate lemon squeezer by the celebrated Birmingham silversmiths Hukin & Heath. The upper section is modelled naturalistically as a finely textured lemon, complete with a simulated branch forming the handle, which screws neatly onto the threaded juicer beneath—a clever and elegant piece of late Victorian design engineering.

The piece bears the Registered Design Number 203233, struck both to the top of the base and to the side of the lemon. Its pared-back functionalism, combined with the sculptural wit of the form, strongly suggests the hand of Dr Christopher Dresser, who was closely associated with Hukin & Heath during this period and responsible for many of their most forward-thinking domestic designs.

At Nicholas Wells Antiques, we take great care in preparing each piece for delivery. As every antique is unique, custom packaging and handling are essential to ensure safe transit.
