This magnificent coral-encrusted dagger, originating from the Ottoman Empire in the late 18th to early 19th century, represents the pinnacle of Turkish artistry and martial craftsmanship. The Ottoman Empire, known for its intricate and luxurious weaponry, produced daggers that were not only tools of war but also symbols of status and wealth. This dagger, bearing a striking resemblance to a piece in the Metropolitan Museum (accession number 36.25.763a, b), exemplifies the luxurious aesthetics and meticulous craftsmanship characteristic of the period.
