England, circa 1820
The superb serpentine 'S' scroll and leaf carved cresting above a rectangular glazed frame with silk embroidered panel and 'S' scroll and leaf carved border and rectangular moulded outer borders, on beautiful lotus leaf carved end supports joined by a stiff leaf carved and turned stretcher resting on the most highly detailed scaled claw and ball feet. This true masterpiece shows many features that relate to both Thomas Hope & George Smith's designs, however, the overall form leans more towards the work of Thomas Hope. It is superbly crafted, as you would expect from Thomas Hope's work. The material set on both sides of this beautiful piece comes from the Royal Fabric Collection & is the finest embroidered Savigny silk. It is in excellent condition for its age & use.

At Nicholas Wells Antiques, we take great care in preparing each piece for delivery. As every antique is unique, custom packaging and handling are essential to ensure safe transit.
