Japanese Lacquer Tray

A finely executed square Japanese lacquer tray of generous proportions, with rounded corners and a broad black lacquer rim enclosing a striking mottled red and black surface. The interior is decorated in a richly textured nashiji-like finish, creating an intricate organic pattern reminiscent of stone, tortoiseshell or flowing lacquer marbling. The restrained black border provides a dramatic contrast to the vibrant vermilion ground, highlighting the depth and lustre of the lacquerwork.
