A fine early 19th-century fire gilt French mantle clock circa 1810, with a reclined figure of learning reading a book above a white enamel dial, signed Dautel, Rue de Thionville à Paris. Fine enamel dial with Roman numerals and Arabic quarter markers, framed by fluted columns and frieze. The whole raised on a stepped base with green Verde Antico marble and bun feet. 8-day duration movement with anchor recoil escapement and silk suspended pendulum, count wheel strike on a silvered bell.
