Michelangelo Maestri (1741-1812) was an Italian painter and draughtsman who specialised in creating allegorical figures based on ancient frescoes. He used gouache on paper to create his works, which were highly regarded by his contemporaries. Maestri’s works are now considered to be some of the finest examples of Italian Neo Classical art.
