A pair of French Louis XIV oak frames, retaining traces of their original gilt and green-painted surface decoration. Of rectangular form, the moulded frames are enriched with finely carved acanthus leaf corner ornaments, a characteristic feature of the grand decorative vocabulary of the Louis XIV period.
The beautifully weathered surface displays layers of age-softened green paint and worn gilding, creating a richly textured patina that speaks to centuries of use.
