Tamegroute Green Glazed Pottery Vase Mounted as a Table Lamp

A charming Tamegroute pottery vase from southern Morocco, later mounted as a table lamp. The vessel is of compact ovoid form with a short collar neck and a pair of simple loop handles to the shoulders, covered throughout in a richly coloured turquoise-green glaze characteristic of the historic pottery workshops of Tamegroute.

The hand-applied glaze exhibits subtle tonal variation, kiln effects and minor imperfections that celebrate the handmade nature of the piece. Areas of exposed terracotta around the foot provide a pleasing contrast to the vibrant glazed surface, while the restrained form lends the lamp a timeless and versatile appeal.

Produced in the Draa Valley on the edge of the Sahara, Tamegroute pottery has been prized for centuries for its distinctive green glaze and rustic aesthetic. This example has been sensitively converted for modern use, creating a decorative accent suitable for a bedside table, console or bookshelf.
