Tamegroute Green Glazed Pottery Vessel Mounted as a Table Lamp

A striking Moroccan pottery vase from Tamegroute, later mounted as a table lamp. The vase is of traditional amphora-inspired form, with a broad angular body rising to a short everted neck and flanked by a pair of small loop handles. Its rich emerald-green glaze, distinctive to the pottery workshops of Tamegroute in southern Morocco, displays subtle variations in tone and texture, reflecting the handmade nature of its production.

The vessel retains the characteristic irregularities that make Tamegroute ceramics so desirable, including slight asymmetries, firing marks and areas of glaze variation. The warm, saturated green surface contrasts beautifully with the exposed terracotta visible at the foot and handle edges, lending depth and authenticity to the piece.

Now converted into a table lamp, the vase combines traditional North African craftsmanship with contemporary functionality. Its bold colour and sculptural silhouette make it particularly suited to eclectic, Mediterranean and contemporary interiors.
