Thomas Sheraton (1751 – 22 October 1806)

In the 18th century, Thomas Sheraton was one of three eminent English furniture designers along with Thomas Chippendale and George Hepplewhite. Late Georgian style became synonymous with Sheraton’s furniture style.

Thomas Sheraton was a renowned furniture designer in the 18th century who is most well known for his Classical Revival furniture designs. His designs were characterised by a strong emphasis on symmetry and proportion, as well as the use of high-quality materials and intricate details.

He was particularly fond of using motifs from ancient Greek and Roman architecture, such as fluting, swags, and garlands. His furniture was often made of mahogany, walnut, satinwood, or rosewood, and was highly sought after by the upper classes of the day. His furniture designs remain popular to this day, and are a testament to his skill and influence.
