George Hepplewhite (1727 – 21 June 1786) was a renowned cabinetmaker from England. He is widely known for being one of the “big three” English furniture makers of the 18th century, alongside Thomas Sheraton and Thomas Chippendale. Hepplewhite’s furniture designs were highly influential in the development of the neoclassical style, and his pieces are still highly sought after today. Hepplewhite was known for his elegant, graceful designs, which often featured delicate curves and intricate carvings. He was also renowned for his use of lighter woods such as mahogany, birch, and walnut, which allowed him to create pieces that were both beautiful and functional. Hepplewhite’s work is a testament to the skill and craftsmanship of the 18th century, and his legacy continues to inspire furniture makers today.
